Marina Real Sailing School

A legacy of the America’s Cup has been the creation of the Municipal Sailing School (Escola Municipal de Vela) of Valencia in La Marina Real Juan Carlos I. The facility was inaugurated during the 32nd America’s Cup and was later remodelled and started again in April 2010.

It is now managed by the Sailing Federation of the Valencian Community, with a view to channelling momentum in the promotion of sailing which emerged during the America’s Cup, and also promoting this sport and bringing sailing closer both to the city of Valencia and its visitors.

The Municipal Sailing School (Escola Municipal de Vela) of Valencia is located on the northern side of the Marina. The schools main activities are light sailing and cruising, which you can take part in throughout the year, as main activities, but it also offers disabled sailing, windsurfing and sea kayaking.

GOLETA TIRANT PRIMER

The Schooner Tirant Primer, the Valencian Government’s training ship which is managed by the Valencian Community Sailing Federation, offers courses and visits suitable for all throughout the year.

The ship’s aim is not to teach students how to sail the high seas, but rather to encourage teamwork and the values of tolerance and effort, during their daytime, night-time, weekend and weekday excursions.

What’s more, during the weekend and five-day excursions which run along the Valencian coast, the students learn all about the history of the Valencian Community.

Throughout the school year, the ship organises activities for schoolchildren, from just 2 euros per child, so they can put the knowledge they’ve learnt in their science and maths classes into practice.
